About Hesham Abdelfattah

Hesham Abdelfattah is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a specialty in the hand and upper extremity. He obtained his medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center’s School of Medicine after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He completed an internship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and his residency at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. After his residency, he completed a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, in addition to a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Abdelfattah remained in practice in Philadelphia on faculty at Temple University School of Medicine where he was promoted to Associate Professor of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He helped direct the orthopaedic surgery residency program where he trained residents and medical students and participated in research advancing the field. He brings his expertise to central New Jersey, where he continues to provide the highest quality of orthopaedic care alongside the rest of the UOA team.

Dr. Abdelfattah subscribes to a personal philosophy of treating the whole person, not just the disease or the affected limb. To embody this philosophy, he prioritizes spending time with his patients to understand how their injuries or conditions are affecting their lives. He believes in a collaborative physician-patient approach when tackling both surgical and non-surgical conditions.
