University Orthopaedic Associates Welcomes Dr. James T. Monica
Specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery, Dr. Monica is now treating patients at the Somerset and Princeton offices. His many clinical interests include tendonitis, arthritis, peripheral nerve compression, fractures, dislocations and sports injuries, as well as microsurgery and post-traumatic reconstructive surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
“I am thrilled to be back in New Jersey and to become a member of a stellar team of physicians,” says Dr. Monica. “I am committed to applying the latest evidence-based research to my practice and patient care.”
Dr. Monica earned his medical degree from The Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a surgical internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. His postgraduate training also includes fellowships in hand and upper extremity and open and arthroscopic shoulder surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Monica continues to contribute to the orthopaedic scientific community. To date, he has been published in numerous books and peer-reviewed publications, and has presented at many regional, national and international professional meetings. He is affiliated with Saint Peter’s University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
