The Latest and Greatest:
The “Anterior Approach” for Total Hip Replacement

“The latest and greatest” was the phrase delivered by Dr. Stephen Kayiaros in his opening remarks during a recent medical presentation regarding the anterior approach for total hip replacement. He pointed out that hip replacement is a very successful and durable operation with 400,000 surgeries performed per year. “The anterior approach has revolutionized this operation,” he said.

Dr. Kayiaros’ talk was entitled, Minimally Invasive Total Hip Replacement—The “Anterior Approach.” However, since he is both a hip and knee specialist, he also touched upon total and partial joint replacement of the knee.

The enlightening and informative presentation provided a comprehensive explanation of the latest technology for joint replacement as well as non-operative techniques. The event took place before an audience of medical professionals at Robert Wood Johnson on September 30, 2015.
