A Bad Trip Leads to Great Orthopaedic Care at Jersey Shore
On June 22, 2010, Cary McCormack and his wife, Nanci, left their Spring Lake Heights home on a road trip to North Carolina. Along the way, the retired high school principal and administrator and his wife of 35 years decided to take a side trip to Charleston, South Carolina.
They had checked into their hotel and were walking down a flight of stairs to retrieve their luggage when Cary
missed a step. He fell to the ground, badly injuring his right shoulder.
Cary, 60, was taken to a local trauma center, where he learned he had fractured his right humerus, the upper arm bone, at the shoulder. Doctors told him they could operate two days later.
After careful thought, Cary decided he wanted the surgery performed near home, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. As chair of Jersey Shore’s Community Advisory Committee, he was familiar with the expertise of the Medical Center’s orthopaedics program.
It was a good choice. The orthopaedic surgeons at Jersey Shore have experience treating complex orthopaedic injuries, like Cary’s.
