Congratulations Patricia Seuffert for Receiving Prestigious Grant Recognition!
University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA) is proud to announce that Patricia Seuffert, UOA’s Research Coordinator, has received the 2016 Betsy Love McClung Travel Grant from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).
The Betsy Love McClung Travel Grant was established to honor the memory of Betsy Love McClung, RN, MN for her role in supporting the development of nurses and allied health professionals caring for patients with osteoporosis. The goal of the grant is to allow the award recipients to continue their professional development in the field of osteoporosis by providing travel funds to attend the ASBMR Annual Meeting beginning in 2016. Funds for the grant have been provided by contributions to the new ASBMR Fund for Research and Education from individuals in memory of Betsy Love McClung. Qualified candidates must be in the nursing profession (student or practicing professional) or must be a physician assistant, technician or therapist who takes care of patients with osteoporosis or other metabolic bone diseases.
According to the ASBMR website:
Patricia Seuffert, MS, APN is the Research Coordinator and Adult Nurse Practitioner at University Orthopaedic Associates in Somerset, New Jersey, USA where she strives to offer her patients a more comprehensive fragility fracture care plan. She is an “osteoporosis champion” in the academic hospital where her patient care is initially provided by partnering with a team of orthopaedic specialists to monitor fragility fractures, review fracture lists, and analyze fracture data. Her team has also developed standing orders for calcium and vitamin D, fall risk assessments, and dietary evaluations for elderly post-fracture patients. Patricia wants to directly translate knowledge from the ASBMR 2016 Annual Meeting in Atlanta into not only patient care and education but also into her programs to improve outcomes after fragility fracture.
ASBMR is a professional, scientific and medical society established to bring together clinical and experimental scientists who are involved in the study of bone and mineral metabolism.
Congratulations to our respected colleague Patricia Seuffert for receiving this well-deserved award recognition.
