A relentless US Women’s Eight captured their second consecutive Olympic gold medal today, Thursday, August 2, 2012, and their seventh straight title in the event. In a dominant performance, the US had distanced their closest challengers from Canada by almost a full boat length by halfway, then weathered charges from the Canadian and Dutch crews to bring the win home safely. The seven-year win streak of the US is now one of the longest in the sport, both present and historical.
