gala-harwood3On Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, Dr. David Harwood was honored at the Arthritis Foundation’s 2014 Annual Awards Gala. He was named Orthopedist of the Year at the event, which raises money for services for the 1.4 million people living with arthritis in New Jersey. The event drew 500 guests from corporations, government, healthcare, and individual sponsors with an investment in improving the lives of those afflicted with arthritis.

Dr. Harwood is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in joint replacement and arthritis surgery. He attended UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School after earning his undergraduate degree from Princeton University. He completed a fellowship in joint replacement arthritis surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He has been recognized multiple times by his peers as a Best Doctor in America as well as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor.

Joint replacement and arthritis surgery are complex procedures that require expertise and experience to be performed effectively. Dr. Harwood’s believes in putting the patient’s needs first, and tailoring his approach to providing the best outcome with the least interference. He is committed to employing the most efficient ways of performing surgical procedures.

In addition to his work in the operating room, Dr. Harwood teaches the next generation of orthopedic surgeons at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. This enables him to stay current with the latest surgical innovations, while also determining their usefulness.
