Football Injury Update – Episode 14: Ron Brooks
The Philadelphia Eagles enjoyed a big win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday but suffered a huge loss in the first quarter with the season-ending ruptured quadriceps tendon of their cornerback Ron Brooks. Brooks was injured as he planted his foot positioning himself to tackle running back Jerick McKinnon. Brooks collapsed and was carted off the field. He is now scheduled to have surgery to repair the ruptured tendon.
Non-contact injuries are very common, but an injury like this is rare. Brooks has been placed on injured reserve and will unlikely be able to return to football activity until training camp in July.
Specializing in sports medicine, our orthopaedic surgeon and arthroscopic surgery specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Bechler also serves as the official team orthopaedist for Princeton Athletics. Dr. Bechler explains the injury, the open surgery and Brooks’ return to play.
