Football Injury Update – Episode 15: Morris Claiborne

Swan

The Dallas Cowboys may have walked away with a sensational overtime win versus their division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, but they lost in their secondary with some critical injuries amounting to significant time off the playing field. Barry Church fractured his forearm in the second quarter, and late in the fourth, Morris Claiborne went down with a groin injury. It was the second straight game in a row that Claiborne suffered an injury, and it could not have come at a worst time. Claiborne was having his best season ever.

The Cowboys do have some depth with Orlando Scandrick returning from injury. With J.J. Wilcox and Jeff Heath alternating for Church, the team might just be a contender under their rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Claiborne has suffered a sports hernia and will miss at least three weeks.

Dr. Kenneth G. Swan, Jr., sports medicine specialist, also serves as team physician for Woodbridge Township School District and Perth Amboy public schools. Dr. Swan discusses the sports hernia, surgical intervention and prognosis to return to play.
