Football Injury Update – Episode 36: Ben Roethlisberger
Ben Roethlisberger is on a roll … an injury roll, that is. Despite his numerous accomplishments as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, he has a mind-boggling history of afflictions. And in his latest game, he added to his injury list again.
Trouble found Roethlisberger at the end of a 30-12 trouncing of the Miami Dolphins, marking the Steelers eighth straight win. He hurt his foot in the last play before his kneel-down to mark the end of the game when he was tackled by Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake. A later MRI revealed that this injury was an aggravation of an old one: a midfoot sprain.
Dr. Kenneth G. Swan, Jr. defines a midfoot sprain and discusses the “tough, competitive” Ben Roethlisberger and the likelihood that he will be back in the next game, a playoff against the Kansas City Chiefs.
