Football Injury Update – Episode 40: Le’Veon Bell
It seemed as though the Pittsburgh Steelers would be able to give the unstoppable Patriots a run for their money in the AFC championship last Sunday. Alas, it was not to be, as New England routed the Steelers 37 to 16 in bold fashion. Perhaps, worst of all was that on top of losing so terribly after a nine-game winning streak, Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell went down with a groin injury early on in the eventual blowout. Bell was a top three running back in 2016, with 1,884 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in just 12 games.
Dr. Kenneth G. Swan, Jr., our sports medicine specialist, also serves as team physician for Perth Amboy and Woodbridge schools. Dr. Swan tells WFAN the probable cause of Bell’s injury and what he will be facing in terms of recovery.
We have partnered with WFAN 660 AM/101.9 FM to bring you the weekly Football Injury Update, a recap of the top injuries across the NFL with our doctors providing their expert medical opinion on the injury, treatment options and prognosis to return to the field of play.
