Football Injury Update – Episode 10: Eric Decker
The woes for the New York Jets continue, and there seems to be no end in sight. Quickly falling into the basement of the AFC East, the NY Jets once felt to be a contender are now fighting for their lives to stay ahead of the Dolphins and avoid being dead last … again.
The Jets, who are in dire need of an offensive explosion, have lost their golden ticket: Eric Decker. Decker injured his shoulder in Week 1 versus the Bills and then re-aggravated the injury against Kansas City, which proved to be his last game this season. Decker has earned his spot on the IR after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair his partially torn rotator cuff.
Dr. James T. Monica, one of our hand and upper extremity specialists, discussed Decker’s partially torn rotator on Mike Francesa’s show along with the surgical procedure and recovery. He also touched on when surgery is warranted.
