Please join the University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA) family in welcoming two new physicians, Dr. Michael T. Lu and Dr. Cris Beiro. UOA has assumed management of their practice, Garden State Bone and Joint, as of July 1.

Effective July 1, the practice will fall under the UOA banner.

Dr. Lu received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine and completed his residency at Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School. He completed his fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lu specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery, including

  • Fracture care
  • Joint replacement
  • Arthroscopic surgery

An active researcher, Dr. Lu has published numerous journal articles, textbook chapters and presentations. He is currently a clinical assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School.

Dr. Beiro received his medical degree and completed his residency at Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. In Maryland, he acted as assistant team physician for the Baltimore Ravens NFL team, the Baltimore Blast MLS team and area colleges.

He specializes in treating sports medicine conditions with a focus on knee and lower extremity injuries, including:

  • Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and multiligament injuries
  • Meniscus tears
  • Cartilage lesions
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Fractures

He also specializes in general orthopaedic surgery, including arthroscopic surgery, joint replacements and fracture care.
