University Orthopaedic Associates Hosts Professional Seminar

Professional Seminar

University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA), a leader in professional education, presented a symposium on October 27, 2015 entitled, Sports Medicine Dilemmas for the Primary Care Provider: An Evidence-Based Approach. The purpose of the symposium was to examine the major issues associated with sporting injury and care in primary care practices. It was geared toward an audience of physicians, athletic trainers, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Presenters included UOA orthopaedists and staff, in the order of their presentations: Dr. Kenneth Swan, Dr. Christopher Doumas, Dr. Stephen Kayiaros, Dr. Matthew McDonnell, Dr. Gino Chiappetta, and athletic trainer and moderator, Eric Nussbaum. They presented on ligament tears of the knee and Achilles tendon; return to sports following joint replacement; and cervical and lumbar disc herniation.

This event, jointly provided by the University Orthopaedic Associates, LLC, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Center for Continuing and Outreach Education, was approved for and provided Continual Education Units (CEUs).

UOA will continue its tradition as a leader in professional education when it hosts a pediatric meeting scheduled for March 2016.
