University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA) to Treat Middlesex County College Student-Athletes

Partnership to provide MCC Athletes with Top Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Care

Middlesex County College athletic department and University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA) have made it official. Under the direction of UOA CEO Darleen Caccavale and Middlesex County College director of athletics Derrick Johnson, along with other college officials, the two organizations have formally entered into an agreement that will provide unparalleled service for student-athletes.

The team of health care professionals at UOA will work in close consultation with the Middlesex County College athletic departments’ athletic training staff, providing the most up-to-date, highest quality personalized sports medicine services.

The orthopaedic program based out of Somerset, New Jersey is now an official partner of Blue Colt athletics, beginning with the 2019-20 athletic year. This partnership includes treatment and coordination of medical care for student-athletes, including office visits, on-site clinic hours and game and practice coverage.

In addition, the University Orthopaedic Associates medical team will also provide care outside the regular season during playoff contests, assisting in treating both competing MCC student-athletes and competitors from other colleges at contests.

“Our partnership with UOA allows us to meet our goal of providing the highest quality care for our student-athletes,” said director of athletics Derrick Johnson.

“The professionals at UOA are leaders in rehabilitation and preventative care for athletes. This relationship and service from UOA provides the students the opportunity to excel in all aspects of the student-athlete experience.”

During the year, UOA will assist the MCC athletic training staff in caring for over 150 NJCAA athletes in 14 varsity sports.
