About Ryan Kay

Ryan is the Director of Physical Therapy at University Orthopaedic Associates. He graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, then earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from New York Medical College in 2008.

Ryan brings over 17 years of clinical experience in outpatient physical therapy and private practice settings. He works with a wide range of pathologies and impairments, employing an eclectic, patient-centered approach to rehabilitation. Ryan prioritizes attentive listening and develops individualized treatment plans that align each patient’s goals with objective clinical findings. He values open communication with patients, families, and referring physicians and believes that active patient involvement is essential to successful rehabilitation outcomes. While he treats all conditions, he has a particular clinical interest in shoulder and upper-extremity rehabilitation.

Ryan is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and remains current with evidence-based practice through ongoing journal review and continuing education, with a strong emphasis on manual therapy. For the past several years, he has collaborated with physicians at UOA as part of a Sports Medicine Research Group, where his research study received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. Ryan works closely with local physicians, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals to promote optimal recovery, health, and wellness for his patients.

Outside of clinical practice, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, cooking, playing golf and coaching his son’s travel baseball team.
