Three UOA Physicians Named Jersey’s Best Top Orthopaedic Doctors!

University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA) is excited to announce that three of our physicians have been named Jersey’s Best Top Orthopaedic Doctors, selected by Castle Connolly Top Doctors. These prestigious Jersey’s Best Top Orthopaedic Doctors awards are presented to New Jersey physicians who have received nominations from their peers for being exceptional and the best in their field.

This year’s three UOA winners are honored to be receiving the Top Doctors award again after also receiving it in 2021. They include:

  • Mark S. Butler, MD
  • Christopher Doumas, MD
  • Kenneth G. Swan, Jr., MD

Dr. Butler is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who received specialty training in traumatology and foot and ankle surgery at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree from Lafayette College, a master’s degree from Lehigh University, medical school at UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School, and residency at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical school. He also has numerous professional accomplishments, including being elected by his peers to be included in the Best Doctors in America® list, as well as being part of the New Jersey Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue team, one of the largest technical search teams in the country.

Dr. Doumas is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who received specialty training in surgery of the hand and upper extremity via a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree at the College of William and Mary, medical school at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and an internship and residency at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. He is the Director of Hand Surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and has an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He’s received numerous honors including the Nurse’s Choice Physician of the Year at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He has also co-authored a textbook and founded LibraryOfMedicine.com.

Dr. Swan is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who received specialty training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery via a fellowship at the University of Colorado. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree and medical degree from Cornell University and an internship and residency at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He is the Director of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and Medical Director of the Human Motion Institute at Raritan Bay Medical Center. He serves as the team physician for several Woodbridge Township high schools. He was a member of the Cornell University Varsity Football Ivy League Championship team, as well as being inducted into the Columbia High School Athletic Hall of Fame for wrestling. He’s received many honors, including a “Gold Doc” humanism award. His clinical interests include Sports Medicine & Arthroscopic Surgery.
