Lou DeRoma was lifting his customary weight bar when he suddenly went numb from the neck down. As his symptoms remained, he was left with the question: What if I don’t get better? Then, he found Dr. Gino Chiappetta at UOA, who in a one-day surgical procedure at UCAS cured DeRoma of a potentially life-threatening condition.

“I’m able to hold my children again and feel them in my arms. That’s a great feeling,” concludes DeRoma.
