This treatment uses an external device placed over the injured limb that is held in place by screws that are affixed to the bone to hold the bones in place and provide stability to the injury site. These devices are used when internal surgery is not an option, or when the patient has other injuries that need treatment before the orthopaedic injuries are addressed.
