About Stephen Kayiaros

Dr. Kayiaros is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery as well as a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University followed by a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Dr. Kayiaros is the Director of Total Joint Replacement Surgery at the University Center for Ambulatory Surgery (UCAS) as well as the Medical Director for the Joint Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. He is also section Chief of the Division of Orthopedics at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. 

Dr. Kayiaros performs over 600 joint replacement surgeries per year, making him one of the busiest joint replacement surgeons in New Jersey. Dr. Kayiaros was an early adopter of the Anterior Approach for Total Hip Replacement and is considered a pioneer of the procedure. He has written several articles as well as contributed book chapters on the surgical technique. Dr. Kayiaros is able to offer the anterior approach to all his patients, even performing the surgery on the most complex of cases. 

Additionally, Dr. Kayiaros is an experienced revision surgeon and receives referrals for complex failed joint replacements. With the myriad of techniques that he has learned in his career, Dr. Kayiaros is able to rejuvenate these old joint replacements and restore function to his patients.
