To: Dr. Stephen Kayiaros and Staff,
I just want to take this opportunity to express what a positive impact this procedure has had on my quality of life. There was a great deal of anxiety on my part in deciding to proceed with a total hip replacement procedure, because of the potential risks as well as the possibility of a lengthy rehabilitation. With the support of family and friends, I took the first step and set up the initial consultation.
Patient David Hayes was limited to any athletic activity because of severe pain in both of his hips. After meeting with Dr. David Harwood and learning that both of his hips were severely arthritic, he decided go ahead with undergoing the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) option. Thanks to Dr. Harwood, Mr. Hayes’ BHR surgery was life-changing, enabling to return to a pain-free active lifestyle he loves.

The entire team is just fantastic, really trustworthy and knowledgeable. I was completely reassured after talking with Dr. Kayiaros, and would highly recommend him and UOA to everyone.
He was wonderful from the first moment we saw him. He was an unusual person in that he was honest and true and sometimes you don’t see that in surgeons. He was just a very decent person.
“I’ll take that (UOA) staff over the ER any day!” exclaims Stephen Russell, a 71-year-old from Somerset, New Jersey. That’s exactly what Russell was thinking during the painful 24-hour period after a fall that broke his hip.

He’s a great blend of someone who is highly competent and stays on top of his game. Talking to him is like talking to a friend. The nurses spoke about the implants and techniques he was using and how cutting edge he is. But my body finally feels the way it’s supposed to. The change from last year to now is amazing.
This is a world-class physical therapy facility. I was referred here by my surgeon. Kristin was my therapist after my knee replacement surgery. She is very knowledgeable, caring, and very encouraging. At first, I was skeptical about using this facility since it is not in my insurance network (which means that I had a higher copayment for every visit). After my first two visits, I decided to stay with it until recovery. I also would like to thank Lynn, who assisted me in pre-surgery and after surgery prior to discharge.
