I would like to take this opportunity to thank first of all, Dr. James Monica and his team, who did an excellent job on my shoulder surgery, and the whole physical therapy staff for making me feel at home and always welcomed during my whole physical therapy regimen. My therapist was Neveen – who gave me 100% of her time every session I spent with her. She pushed me to the limits, but was well worth the pain! It’s been almost two years since my rehab, but I can assure you that I am 100% back to my normal routine! I want to thank each and everyone at UOA – you guys are awesome! Definitely my #1 place for rehab!
Dr. Doumas repaired my left shoulder’s extensive rotator cuff and bicep tear in August. I felt confident with his expertise before and after surgery. Much of my successful healing is because of the excellent UOA PT. Lynn and staff are professional and caring and that helped my recuperation immeasurably.
Special thanks to Dr. Monica for his excellence in shoulder reconstruction after a serious fall last July. The night of the accident my husband and I met with the Residents in the Emergency Room. We learned from them that I had suffered a serious fracture that required shoulder reconstruction. They also told us that this is not a common surgery such as hip and knee replacements. When hearing the news that I faced a surgical procedure that is not commonly performed and more complex, I became very apprehensive until Dr. Monica visited me in the Emergency Room.
I was fortunate to get Dr. Monica as my attending physician. Right away he put my mind as ease with his knowledge and ability to communicate in a straightforward yet compassionate manner what to expect. As a surgeon, he is both a skilled clinician and artisan. My shoulder is on the mend and getting better all the time. I am exceedingly pleased that my range of motion has surpassed all expectations. My sincere thanks to Dr. Monica for such a positive medical outcome.
I’ve been to many physical therapy places. Hands down this is the best ever! The professionalism, the atmosphere, the camaraderie is second to none. I will always recommend this place highly to anyone. Neveen is my lifesaver, and someone I highly respect and will never forget. Last but not least, Dr. Coyle thank you for your expertise and being so down to earth.
On June 22, 2010, Cary McCormack and his wife, Nanci, left their Spring Lake Heights home on a road trip to North Carolina. Along the way, the retired high school principal and administrator and his wife of 35 years decided to take a side trip to Charleston, South Carolina.
They had checked into their hotel and were walking down a flight of stairs to retrieve their luggage when Cary missed a step. He fell to the ground, badly injuring his right shoulder.
It takes an entire team to save a life, and Dr. Carlos Sagebien and Dr. Timothy Leddy of UOA were recently part of such a team. Jerry Bartolotti was helicoptered into the Level 1 Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in November 2010. Bartolotti suffered severe chest and arm injuries while attempting to make sure his unmanned rolling truck avoided injuring others. After being pinned between a tree and the truck, it was initially believed Bartolotti had little chance of survival.

Everyone at the hospital was wonderful, my physical therapist was outstanding and encouraging, and Dr. Doumas really knew what he was doing. Within a few days of my surgery, I sensed a change for the better and even went on milder pain medication.
