I suffered with a bad back for many years. It caused severe sciatic pain going down my entire leg. I had multiple shots in my back and I completed PT. I thought I completely recovered and the pain eventually returned.
I have lived with constant pain for many years since. I started to believe that I was going to be like this for the rest of my life. I was still working full-time at a physical job. I was taking two arthritis strength Tylenol twice a day with Aleve. By the end of the day, I couldn’t put weight on my leg and I was dragging it behind me. I was even uncomfortable when I was sitting.
I saw Dr. Ravi Verma at UOA to check my back. He took an x-ray and told me my hip was in bad shape. He directed me to Dr. William Baione.
I saw Dr. Baione and he could immediately see that I needed a hip replacement by the way I was walking. I told him how much pain I was living with. It felt good to know that someone actually knew what I was going through. He was very kind and compassionate. He told me he was going to fix me and give me my life back.
Dr. Baione performed a total anterior hip replacement. The surgery took 45 minutes. He replaced the joints through the front, which is less invasive/painful and it speeds up the recovery time. I was walking without a cane within 5 weeks. I was cleared to go back to work in two months. I’m 48 years old.
I can walk normally again without any pain. I have full range of motion again. I can put my socks on without help. I can get in my car without lifting my leg with my arm. I can also kneel, bend and squat. I mowed my lawn for the first time in years without any pain. I also no longer take any pills for pain.
I will always be very grateful to Dr. Baione for helping me. He really did give me my life back. If I described you or someone you know, see Dr. Baione. He can change your life too!
I commend both Dr. Butler and Natalie in the Princeton office for their outstanding care. They initiated accelerated testing and then were proactive in giving me feedback and guidance for care and healing. Thank you!

Best surgeon ever. Very professional, honest and cares about his patients. Dr. Verma gave me confidence in having surgery. I’m very thankful and grateful for having him as my doctor. I will always recommend him to others.

Rehab care by my therapist Kar has made such great improvement in my ability to walk and move comfortably after knee surgery. She has so many ways to help you strengthen your muscles, increase flexibility, and improve balance. She made sure I could meet the basic milestones plus the additional activities I wanted to be able to do. Kar made sure she challenged me and I challenged myself and she provided positive reinforcement every visit. And she knows how to find the spot in your muscle that hurts, and fix it. So happy I was assigned to her practice!

I had bilateral knee replacement with Dr. Kayiaros. Now, post-op, I’m doing wonderfully and no longer in need of my cane. I’m delighted with my experience and the treatment I received from Dr. Kayiaros, Lauren Stull and the entire UOA team! Word on the street is that Dr. Kayiaros and UOA are the very best. I can attest to this! I highly recommend them and I’m so blessed that he was able to do my surgeries.

In April, I had knee surgery for a complex meniscus tear performed by Dr. Beiro at University Orthopaedic Associates in Avenel, UOA’s Woodbridge location. Ben Glider, the experienced and skilled physical therapist at UOA’s Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Excellence, which is located right next door to UOA, helped me regain the knee strength that I had lost. From the time of my knee injury and continuing after the surgery, I had great difficulty going down steps. Thanks to Ben’s care, I now can go down steps much more easily. Ben also gave me a printed program of exercises to continue doing at home. He was personable and professional and provided encouragement when needed. I highly recommend him.
I must say, I like the fact that you can meet with your doctor and go right next-door to physical therapy -big plus. After some healing time from the surgery, I was introduced to Lindsay Balint, my physical therapist for the next six months. In the beginning, I could barely lift my arm but with Lindsey‘s funny and great attitude for recovery, I was able to achieve the goals she set forth. By understanding my personal strengths and weaknesses, I was able to walk out doing everything that I did before the accident. Thank you so much, Lindsey.
PS. Everyone in Avenel, from the secretaries to the other physical therapists and aids were all professional and friendly.
First I would like to thank Dr Michael Lu and his team for being so patient and thoughtful during this operation, especially his calls following up on my well-being. I will also like to thank Raritan Bay Medical Center and the team of nurses, especially Nurse Cruz in the operating area that attended to my every need. Everything went smoothly from parking to registration, lab and Preop/recovery to discharge. I would highly recommend Dr. Lu.
I worked with Sara in physical therapy at UOA right after I had extensive back surgery. I established a good rapport with her and had a very positive experience during my rehabilitation. When I inquired about personal training post physical therapy, I was informed about Sara’s new personal training program. I have to say I am extremely happy with this training. Sara is positive, professional and very enthusiastic about assisting me reach my fitness goals. Sara has already improved my strength, mobility, endurance, and self-esteem!
