Ryan was instrumental in helping me get my strength and range of motion back. Ryan always “listened” and would adjust the treatment and program therapy for the day as needed. I also observed what a great mentor he is to the “therapists” in training – especially with Eric!
I spent about 14 months in physical therapy at University Orthopaedic Associates. I started a couple of months before the decision to have surgery on both shoulders, four months apart, with the first one in November 2020. My twice-a-week routine was always pleasant. From the ladies at the reception desk, to the many assistants that helped me along the way. They should all be commended for such consistency in customer care and support.Â
As for my specific Therapist, Ryan Kay, I can’t say enough about him. I am one who seeks to understand my medical diagnosis and prognosis; (in detail). Not once did Ryan ever hesitate to explain things to me using one of the shoulder models or merely take the time to point out specific causes of pain and areas that required further development. He’d correct my form from way across the room, always ensuring that I avoid further damage. Although I progressed consistently over the past year, a turning point occurred when Ryan realized I backed off my strength training at home (for fear of re-injury) and was only stretching. This was during a period of “rollercoaster” levels of pain, from one day to the next. That’s when he emphasized the need to balance my home efforts to be disciplined in both areas of my development. My recovery for the next three months thereafter was drastic. The pinnacle was November 2nd, when Ryan insisted that I grab my tennis racquet from my car, to hit some serves in the back room. Having grown up on the tennis court and completed at the Division II collegiate level, I was truly overjoyed at the outcome. He actually believed in me more than I did. We ended up filming it to show my family and friends. Mission accomplished. I’m back on the court!
Lastly, (and importantly). I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge Ryan’s care and conscientiousness in tending to other patients beyond just me. Furthermore, his professionalism and warm personality when dealing with other patients, the assistants, students, and the front desk staff did not go unnoticed.Â
All staff were supportive, friendly and knowledgeable, but I must say that all aspects of Ryan’s leadership contributed significantly to my recovery. I couldn’t be more pleased!
Having physical therapy at UOA was a rewarding experience. It also helped alleviate the pain I was experiencing. All the staff were friendly and helpful. In the beginning of therapy, I saw Ben Glider who then introduced me to Ryan Kay before Ben left for the Avenel Office. I completed my sessions with Ryan who was cordial and very professional. He was always concerned that I was not in any pain while doing the exercises and always asked if I was alright. Ryan is an asset to UOA and should I need therapy again I would definitely request him to be my therapist!
I highly recommend the Physical Therapy Group at UOA! I’ve been to many PT groups through the years due to injuries and was very impressed with the personnel and facility. My recovery from my knee surgery was very smooth thanks to the attention and care given by Ryan and his crew. I’m looking forward to being back after my other knee surgery.
I was so pleased with my PT after my right hip replacement. Ryan was so easy to work with and totally professional. He planned a treatment plan specifically for my personal needs. He kept me informed about my progress throughout the process. I could see my progress each time I went for physical therapy. Ryan was responsible for my quick recovery. He also gave me a post physical therapy exercise program to continue my improvement. Thanks to Ryan!!
My PT Treatment was to address a Pre and Post Total Hip Replacement. Ryan Kay was recommended to me for treatment. I found Ryan was organized, knowledgeable and prepared for each session. When a unique situation came up during my treatment, Ryan was able to shift gears and effectively treat the situation. My recovery was quick due to Ryan’s extensive experience and I would highly recommend UOA and especially Ryan Kay.Â
Excellent experience at your facility! Ryan Kay is an exceptional physical therapist with outstanding professional and interpersonal skills. I would recommend him and the other Physical Therapists at UOA to anyone needing PT Services.Â
I came to University Orthopedic Physical Therapy before I had a full shoulder replacement. Ryan Kay worked with me during this pre-surgery therapy. He worked on loosening my stiffness and prepared me for my post-surgery exercises. After my surgery I have been seeing Ryan and have seen so much progress. I am golfing and my strength is coming quickly back. The therapy I received was outstanding and I thank Ryan for helping me get back to my old self. Â
Under Dr. Ryan Kay’s professional care, I feel my re-cooperation has improved so that I can perform most tasks independently. Ryan’s supportive, upbeat and caring manner PLUS exercises he did with me increased my general strength and independence. Ryan is most caring and professional at all times and I was so lucky to work with him. Â
I cannot say enough good things about UOA. The attention I was given was more than I ever expected. My therapist, Ryan Kay, spent so much time analyzing and working on my hip problem. Not only is he an expert in his field, but a genuinely nice person. He cares about his patients and takes a personal interest in them. The rest of the staff is responsive and attentive and always right there to help.  My treatment was very effective in reducing my pain level. If I ever need P/T again I will not hesitate to call Somerset UOA.
